CHARLOTTE, Michigan – Monday morning Michael Linton stood on the porch just outside the front doors to the House of Ruth.
Linton, a resident at the home for men with developmental disabilities, wore a neon green T-shirt with a “Charlotte Frontier Days” logo on the front.
Charlotte is where Linton, who has cognitive impairments and is learning disabled, is striving to live independently.
Maintaining as much freedom as he can means a lot to him, he said.
Staff at the House of Ruth, Linton’s family and members of the Charlotte community are helping him strike that balance.
“This is a good place for me,” Linton said.
