OLD BETHPAGE, New York – The first special needs drum and bugle corps is making history this summer as the first differently-abled corps to be invited to compete in the World Championships.
The FREE Players Drum & Bugle Corps will be headlining and competing at the Drum Corps Association’s World Championships during Labor Day Weekend in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Their performance marks the first time in history a special needs group has been invited. Some members will be participating as solo musicians and colorguard performers as well.
The band is the first special needs drum and bugle corps in the world. It was founded in 2010 by Brian Calhoun and is based out of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE) Music & Performing Arts Adult Day Program & Respite Program in New York.
